Hermína Týrlová was born in 1900, in the Czech Republic, and is considered by many to be the mother of Czech animation.
Týrlová was a prominent screenwriter, animator, and film director, and one of the most prominent figures in Czech animation of the second half of the 20th century.
Her work includes a vast repertoire of films, ranging from short animations for children to more experimental and avant-garde works exploring complex themes. She had a special warmth for animal characters, often creating imaginary tales where animals are the protagonists.
Throughout her career, Týrlová received numerous awards and recognitions for her exceptional talent. The film "The Little Mermaid" was nominated for an Oscar for Best Short Film in 1977.
She was awarded the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government, further highlighting her immense impact on the international animation film community.
Týrlová's work continues to inspire filmmakers and animators around the world and has been screened at numerous international festivals and retrospectives.
THE KNOT IN THE HANDKERCHIEF
Original title . "Uzel na Kapesníku"

UM CORPO ESTRANHO

Pedro Franco and João Mota, musicians from Setúbal, have known each other since they were teenagers and played in several bands until they formed Um Corpo Estranho in 2009. In 2013, they joined the Novos Talentos FNAC compilation and composed the soundtrack for the show “A Almofada da Paula”, inspired by the work of painter Paula Rego, which premiered at Casa das Histórias in Cascais. They released their debut album in 2014 and in 2018, the Setúbal project released a digital soundtrack for the physical theatre/ballet play “Qarib” produced by the Passos e Compassos ballet company. Since then, they have released several LPs and singles, collaborating on various musical projects, including soundtracks for films, theatre and ballet. Their unique compositions oscillate between pop‑country and road trip sounds.
